Continuous Transposed Conductor (CTC) is a specially designed conductor structure used in large power transformers, reactors, and other high-frequency or high-current electrical equipment to optimize current distribution, reduce losses, and improve efficiency.
Multi-strand insulated conductor: A CTC consists of a number (usually five to tens) of rectangular or flat copper or aluminum wires side by side, each coated with a thin layer of insulating material (e.g. polyimide film).
Continuous transposition: The wires are regularly exchanged (transposed) at fixed intervals (e.g., every centimeter or meter) along their length, so that the physical position of each wire in the conductor bundle is constantly changing.
Integral insulation: The exterior of the transposed conductor bundle is usually wrapped in multiple layers of insulating material (e.g., Nomex paper or epoxy resin) to form a compact integral structure.
