The on-board charger is responsible for converting external AC power into DC power suitable for charging electric vehicle batteries, and its internal transformer is a key component. Enameled aluminum wire can be used to wind the primary and secondary windings of the transformer for voltage conversion and electrical isolation. By taking advantage of the cost advantage of aluminum wire, the production cost of on-board chargers can be reduced while meeting their requirements for insulation and electromagnetic performance.
The power factor correction circuit and filtering circuit in the car charger usually need to use inductors. Inductors made of enameled aluminum wire winding can effectively suppress electromagnetic interference, improve power factor, and ensure that the charger outputs a stable DC voltage.
Enameled aluminum wire is also used in the rotor winding of some electric vehicle drive motors. For example, in some induction motors with squirrel-cage rotors, guide bars and end rings made of enameled aluminum wire form the rotor winding, which is capable of generating an induced current during the operation of the motor, which in turn creates an electromagnetic torque to drive the rotor.
